Extending it — the Maintenance Plan

Metal components — both the shutters and the aluminum housings, tracks and hardware on
screens — have to be cleaned and lubricated on schedule, and that work has to be
documented, or the finish and component warranty lapses. A manufacturer can ask for a
maintenance log to support a claim.

On our Maintenance Plan we do that work, keep the log for you, and the coverage extends:

  • Metal shutters — 1 year becomes 5 years.
  • Our service and installation — 1 year becomes 5 years.
  • Coverage stays extended while you are enrolled and we are performing and documenting the
service — twice a year, four times on the coast.

Salt is the thing that quietly voids warranties down here. Salt and atmospheric
deposits left to build up on metal void the finish and component coverage. That is not a
technicality we invented; it is how the manufacturers write it.

Who handles a claim

The screen systems, motors, electronics and impact windows are covered by the
manufacturer’s limited warranty and go through their process. Florida Screen
& Shutter warrants our installation, the metal shutters we build for you, and
the custom pieces we fabricate.

Either way you deal with us. We assess it, and where it is a manufacturer part we coordinate the
claim on your behalf. Our owner reviews every warranty claim himself — not a call center, and
not a policy chart.

What is not covered

WindScreens or vinyl left down in winds over roughly 40 mph, and wind or flying-debris damage.
WaterWater sprayed up into the hood or housing, where the motor and electronics live.
CleaningDamage from harsh chemicals, bleach, the wrong cleaner on vinyl, or salt left to build up.
OtherFaulty installation by others, abuse, normal fading, hail, flood, fire, or acts of God.
OwnerWarranties run to the original purchaser and are non-transferable.

The owner’s manual and care guide sets out what to use and
what to avoid on each product. Most voided warranties we see come from the wrong cleaner or the
wrong lubricant rather than from anything dramatic.

Making a claim

  1. Tell us what is wrong. Use the service request
    form
    , or call (239) 409-0426. Photos help.
  2. Have the purchase date to hand. Roughly is fine.
  3. We assess it, and for manufacturer parts we run the claim with the
    manufacturer for you.

Limitations

These are limited warranties. They extend only to the original purchaser and are
non-transferable. The sole remedy is repair or replacement of the defective part. Neither Florida
Screen & Shutter nor the manufacturers are liable for incidental, consequential or other
indirect damages, or for labour except as stated above. This warranty is governed by Florida law.
Some states do not allow certain limitations, so parts of it may not apply to you.
