The box never gets bigger
UltraShield is always 7 inches or under, at every size. Widen the opening and the box does not grow with it. MagnaTrack, by comparison, steps through four housings as the screen grows — 6 inch, 7.5 inch, 8.5 inch and 10 inch — and its largest is roll formed and cannot be custom colored. That is why a big lanai so often ends up with a far deeper box than the one the homeowner was shown on a small window. One size, whole house, nothing jumping out at you on the elevation.
Tight, crisp, and you can actually see out
Deployed, it sits as tight and crisp as a screen can look — no sag, no rippling at the edges, a flat clean face across the whole opening. And the visibility out is better than MagnaTrack. Sitting behind it you are looking at the water and the yard, not at the mesh. For a lot of our customers that is what settles it.
Four-sided end retention
Most retractable screens retain the fabric on two sides. UltraShield holds it on all four — a patented end-retention design that captures the cloth the whole way round. That is where the strength comes from, and it is why the system is rated to 156 mph and above under Florida product approval FL-42141. On raw strength it is the toughest screen we install.
It is also, by a clear margin, the easiest screen to see out of that we have put on a house. Sitting on the lanai behind an UltraShield you are looking at the water, not at the mesh — it is noticeably clearer than OmegaTex and clearer than anything else in the category. For a lot of our customers that is the thing that decides it.
The self-adjusting track
A heavy-duty self-tensioning track, built around a new Delrin zipper design running in a polymer track insert. The result is an ultra-smooth action that keeps working in windy conditions and across the full temperature range — not a mechanism that binds the first time it is cold or the first time it is loaded.
The base slat is a true end-retention design, and it has been tested at every span and every pressure with no base slat failures. That is the part that fails first on lesser systems.
It is an adjustable aluminum base slat that self-levels to the floor — up to 1.75 inches. On a pitched lanai floor it still sits flat across the opening and still rolls up straight, which is exactly where most screens end up crooked. UltraShield does this without packing the slat with steel; MagnaTrack fills its weight bar with steel to achieve the same thing.
The fabric
UltraShield runs its own cloth — designed and manufactured with Twitchell specifically for the UltraShield system, and sold nowhere else. It carries a 15-year warranty and doubles as an insect and solar screen for the rest of the year.
The housing
UltraShield starts at a 7 inch housing and it is always a 7 inch housing. It does not step up as the opening gets bigger.
That predictability matters more than it sounds. It means we can design a soffit detail once and have it work across every opening on the house, and it means the box you see on a small window is the same box you see on the wide lanai — nothing on the elevation jumps out at you.

Precise measurements and a system designed per opening — product, span, mounting, motor, color. Design pressure is calculated here.

Procurement and manufacturing
Built to your measurements. Permitting is handled as part of the job in parallel.

Installation and inspection
Our own crews install, then we schedule the final inspection and upload the photos. You do not chase the county.

Maintenance
These are mechanical systems in salt air and they need servicing. We offer a maintenance package that cycles, cleans, lubricates and documents every opening once a year — or we will show you how to do it yourself and leave you the instructions.

How strong is it?

Can you see through it?
Better than through anything else in the category. It is noticeably clearer than OmegaTex, and for a lot of our customers the view is what decides between the two systems.
How big is the housing?
Always 7 inches or under. It does not grow as the opening gets bigger, which makes it far easier to detail into a soffit consistently across a whole house.
How wide can it go?
Up to 288 inches wide by 396 inches tall on a motorized unit. For wider spans we would look at MagnaTrack Defender, which reaches 30 feet.
What is the track made of?
The side tracks are self-tensioning and self-adjusting, running against a Goodyear rubber element that keeps constant pressure on the edge of the screen so it stays tight over years of cycling.
What fabric is it?
UltraShield cloth, designed and manufactured with Twitchell specifically for this system. If you have heard them called
Kevlar screens, that is a nickname rather than the fabric.
