What We Install
Everything we install, and how to tell which one belongs on which opening.
We manufacture our own rolling shutters, which is rare for a contractor in this market. It means the recommendation you get is driven by your openings rather than by whatever one factory happens to make.
There is no single right product for a house. There is a right product for each opening. Most homes we work on end up with a mix — a screen across the lanai, shutters on the windows, and impact units wherever the glass was coming out anyway. A quote that puts the same product on every opening is worth a second look.
Shutter Service, Repair & Maintenance
Most repairs come down to a track, a wheel, a slat or a motor. Salt air is what kills hurricane hardware down here, so a system that has not moved in a few seasons usually needs service rather than replacement. Our owner reviews every warranty claim himself — not a call center, and not a policy chart.
MagnaTrack Defender
Up to 30ft wide by 20ft high in a single screen with no centre post — the widest openings we cover. Dual-pull neodymium magnetic track on a Keder interlock. FBC approval #30798.
UltraShield Screen System
Housing stays 7″ or under at every size rather than growing with the span, and it is the clearest view out in the category. Rated 156 mph and above under FL-42141.
We manufactureFSS Accordion Shutters
The workhorse. Permanently mounted beside the opening, closed by hand in minutes, locks from inside. Best value per opening on standard windows and doors. FL1850, HVHZ approved.
We manufactureFSS Rolling Shutters
The 55mm is a double wall slat for wider openings and longer spans (FL22558, HVHZ). The 63mm is a single wall slat for windows and smaller openings (FL31658). Custom box on every opening.
Impact Windows & Doors
Eastern Architectural Systems units, permitted and installed. Rated glazing that protects the opening permanently with nothing to deploy — strongest when the windows were being replaced anyway.
Nautilus Rolling Shutters
A hurricane shutter and a retractable insect screen out of a single 7″ box — the nicest combination unit in the industry. Florida approvals FL42299 and FL42300.
Bahama Shutters
Permanent shade and real curb appeal on street and west-facing windows, with storm protection when specified and permitted as a rated unit. Supplied and installed.
Storm Panels
Steel, or clear Lexan polycarbonate if you want daylight through them. The lowest-cost rated opening protection there is — bolted on before a storm, taken down after.
Retractable insect & solar screens are also on the list — not a storm product, but the same track and housing, and the thing most people end up using every week.
The ones we build ourselves
Our 55mm and 63mm rolling shutters are fabricated by us, and we can build accordions too. That is unusual for a contractor in this market and it changes three practical things:
- No standard box. Every box is made for the opening it goes on, instead of the opening having to accommodate a stock housing size.
- The hard openings stop being a problem. Round columns, mitered hoods, in-soffit installs, mullion and post work — the jobs that get declined elsewhere because the part does not exist. We make the part.
- We are not in a factory queue behind every other dealer in the state.
Where each one belongs
| Opening | Usually the answer |
|---|---|
| Wide lanai or pool cage opening, 15–30 ft | Motorized hurricane screen — one span, no center post, view retained |
| Standard windows on an existing home | FSS Accordion Shutters |
| Sliders, or a home you close up for the season | FSS 55mm or 63mm rolling shutter — blackout, sound, security |
| Front elevation, where looks matter | Bahama Shutters |
| Windows being replaced anyway | Impact windows and doors |
| Heat, glare or insects rather than storms | Retractable solar or insect screens, specified separately |
Permits are part of the job
Permitting is part of every job, in every jurisdiction we work — Cape Coral, Fort Myers, Lee County, Collier, Charlotte, Estero, Sanibel, Fort Myers Beach and Marco Island each run their own process.
Two questions we get constantly, answered properly: what hurricane protection actually costs and how wind mitigation affects your insurance.
