Roll Down Shutters in Punta Gorda, FL
This town empties out in April and fills again in November, which puts the whole
hurricane season inside the months a great many houses are standing empty. That single fact decides
more shutter jobs here than any other.
The house you are not in
Punta Gorda Isles, Burnt Store, the canal streets — a large share of it is second homes and
seasonal residence. Whatever protection you buy has to work when you are not here, and most products
quietly do not.
Storm panels do not: somebody has to physically install them. Accordions can be closed by a
neighbour, which is genuinely useful. A roll down shutter is the
one you close yourself, in about a minute, on the way out the door in April — and then it is
simply shut for the season.
That is worth saying plainly because it is not really a storm argument. A closed roll down is a
solid aluminum wall over the opening. It keeps the sun off the furnishings, it keeps the house dark
and cool and uninteresting from the canal, and it means you are not watching a forecast from
Ohio wondering who has keys.
Canal-front width
Isles houses put their glass on the canal side: a slider to the lanai, often a second off the
master, sometimes a picture window between. Those wide openings are where roll downs earn their
money, because they span the opening and seal it without a post in the middle.

We manufacture both in our Cape Coral shop on a box sized to your opening. The bigger slat is not
the stronger one — the double wall on the 55mm is where the capacity comes from.
Permitting in Punta Gorda
The City of Punta Gorda has its own building department, so this is a city submittal rather than
a Charlotte County one. Permitting is handled as part of the job. Every motorized system has a
manual override, so a power cut is not a problem.
