state. In a town of seasonal owners, architectural review committees and houses where visible
hardware is a problem, that is close to an ideal specification — and it is why more of Naples

The opening it cannot help you with
Your lanai is not a window, and in Naples the lanai is unusually large. No amount of impact glass
covers a twenty-five-foot covered opening, and on most houses here that is the largest exposed face
on the building.
So the sequence matters. A house with impact glass on every window and an open lanai is not a
protected house, and it will not tick the opening protection line on a wind mitigation form either,
because that form asks about all glazed openings. The
lanai first, then the glass. We have talked people out of
six-figure window packages on that basis and it is still the right advice.
Reading the quote
Every impact window sold legally in Florida carries a Florida Product Approval, and that approval
is a schedule rather than a number — configurations, maximum sizes, and the design pressures
each is approved to carry. The same unit in a wider size carries a lower rating, and an exposed
corner requires more than a sheltered elevation.
Which means no one can give you a DP rating for a house over the phone. Ask for the approval
number for the exact unit and the approved pressure at your opening size. Our

City of Naples or Collier County
Two building departments, two submittals, and a lot of Naples addresses are outside the city
limits. The inspector verifies the approval against what was actually installed, which is the step
that makes the paperwork mean something. We establish which department applies before anything is
submitted, and permitting is handled as part of the job.
