Accordion Shutters in Fort Myers, FL

Fort Myers has three completely different housing stocks and they do not want the
same answer. The one thing that carries across all of them is that a shutter made to fit beats a
shutter chosen from a size chart.

Three cities in one

WhereWhat it isWhat that means
McGregor, Dean Park, the historic corePre-war and pre-code homes, frequently alteredOpenings are rarely square and almost never standard. This is where building our own earns its keep.

Why we make them ourselves

Our shop is in Cape Coral, twenty minutes away, and every
accordion shutter we sell is cut and assembled there to the
dimensions of your openings.

On a 1926 McGregor house that is not a nicety, it is the whole job. Openings that have been
altered, replaced, widened, or that were never square to begin with, do not take a stock shutter
without a compromise you will look at every day. And when a part fails in year nine, it is a part we
make rather than a part we order.

They carry Florida Product Approval FL1850 and are approved for the High Velocity Hurricane
Zone — a tougher standard than Lee County requires, which simply means the product is not
marginal for your address.

What they are good at, plainly

  • Cost per opening. Nothing else we sell protects as many openings for the money.
  • Speed. Already mounted — a house closes up in a couple of minutes, no
ladder, nothing to carry or store.
  • Security. They lock from the inside, which matters on a house that sits empty.

The trade is that they stay on the wall year-round. On the front elevation that bothers some
people and not others; where it does, roll down shutters hide in a
housing and Bahama shutters read as architecture.

City or county?

Plenty of Fort Myers addresses are in unincorporated Lee County rather than the City of Fort
Myers, and they are different submittals. We establish which applies before anything is submitted.
Permitting is handled as part of the job.

Talk to us about accordion shutters in Fort Myers

Tell us what you are looking at and someone from our team will call you the same business day. We go through it on the phone first — your openings, the products that actually fit, what is involved — and if it is a fit we come out and put a written quote in your hand. No charge and no obligation.

Questions we get asked

My windows are not standard sizes. Is that a problem?

No, and it is the reason we manufacture rather than resell. Every shutter is cut to your openings, which matters a great deal on the historic stock around McGregor and Dean Park where almost nothing is square.

Are accordions enough on their own?

On the windows and doors, yes. They cannot cover a wide lanai opening without a post in the middle of it, so the common Fort Myers specification is accordions on the openings and a screen across the lanai.

Do they need much looking after?

Rinse the tracks with fresh water a few times a year and keep the sand out. Grit in a track is the most common cause of a system binding, and salt air is what kills hurricane hardware here.
